Happy Frappe

I don't know about you guys but here in St. Louis it has been 96 degrees the past few days and it's killin' me. It's not even August yet! Plus on top of the heat, we have been hosting a very unwanted group of friends -- cicadas. Nasty Nasty Nasty. So I have been trying to find the best way to keep cool physically and mentally through this week and I think I've found it...a nice refreshing home-made frappucino. I tried out a few different recipes and found this one to be the best (however, still not quite comparable to Starbucks, sorry :/) I also made it a low-cal version by using Splenda instead of sugar, skim milk, and a no cal. sugar free chocolate syrup (here) but you can use any flavor you want. I want to try a caramel one next.
Result: pure bliss for about 10 minutes, then It's back to the buzzing cicadas.

  1. I'm roasting in Monterrey, Mexico, I know all about sucking on ice cubes, head in the freezer between batches of cookies, and eating dinner in our bedroom: the only room with A/C

    Saludos de Mexico!
